Hello Friends,
As some of you may know, since my Dad died two years ago now I have made it one of my missions to destigmatize death and dying which means I will be having more conversations about the subject. It took me months to do this interview, as I couldn’t seem to talk about the loss without sobbing uncontrollably. But a few weeks ago I had the privilege of sitting down with comedian Alyssa Limperis. We both share the brutal experience of losing our fathers to cancer, and this episode covers how we've navigated the loss and its lasting impact on our lives.
Alyssa talks about her journey with her comedy show, “No Bad Days,” where she blends humor with her thoughts on losing her father. Her approach is to use comedy as a tool to process grief, which is a great idea if it works for you.We discuss the balance between laughter and sorrow, and how humor can sometimes be a surprising yet powerful way to cope with the deepest pains.
You’ll also hear a little about my upcoming project, which centers around death and dying which I am in the process of developing !
I hope that our shared experiences can offer comfort and insight.
Keep having meaningful conversations….
Love,
Amanda X

KEY TAKEAWAYS:
There aren’t words to describe what it is like when you lose your father in death. It doesn’t matter if it’s unexpected or an illness. You can’t put your emotions into words.
Humans do a disservice to themselves and their families when they don’t talk about death and take the steps to prepare for death. Everyone will die; we need to talk about it.
Hospice is a wonderful organization that can help you navigate the death of a family member.
