Hello Friends,
I’m excited to share the latest episode of our podcast with you.I had an illuminating conversation with the brilliant Dr. Nicole LePera, known to many as the Holistic Psychologist. We talked about her new book, “How to Be the Love You Seek,” unpacking some transformative and sometimes controversial ideas about relationships, personal growth, and therapy.
Dr. LePera's journey is a fascinating one. Despite societal success, she felt unfulfilled( no surprise there) and sought alternative healing methods outside traditional psychotherapy.
We discussed the significance of therapists being open about their own life experiences to foster deeper connections with their clients, which I personally think is crucial to build trust. She beautifully challenged the notion of a static self, emphasizing that personal growth and self-discovery are fluid and ongoing processes. Our childhood experiences, she explained, play a crucial role in shaping our sense of worth and the conditioned beliefs and behaviors we carry into adulthood.
One of the most profound parts of our conversation was about unconditional love and its impact on self-worth and acceptance. Dr. LePera shared her experiences in a polyamorous relationship, highlighting the importance of authenticity and vulnerability in both personal and professional spheres. We also touched on the privilege and accessibility issues within the wellness industry and the value of small, consistent practices for personal growth. Another key topic was the role of technology in providing support and connection, especially for those who lack access to in-person communities.
Dr. LePera also opened up about the backlash she faced for challenging traditional psychology and the internal conflict of handling negative feedback. We explored the importance of integrating new perspectives, acknowledging unconscious biases, and how individual change can positively impact future generations.
This episode is full of insights and personal stories that I hope will resonate with you deeply.
Keep having meaningful conversations….
Love,
Amanda X
